To confirm a sea kayak tour booking

  • To register a booking we require your full contact details.
  • If you are registering for a group, we will need the full names and contact details of each member of the group.
  • To confirm a reservation for extended trips (more than 1 day) we require a 50% deposit.
  • Multi-day tours must be fully paid 30 days prior to the departure date.
  • To confirm a short trip (1 day or less) we require full payment.
  • You can pay by either PayPal (use Credit Card or account) or bank transfer.
  • By paying for a tour we will assume that the client has read and agrees to our terms and conditions.

Day trips – cancellation policy.

  • Cancellation of a one day trip 7 days or more prior to departure – full refund.
  • Cancellation of a one day trip between 7 and 3 days prior to cancellation – 50% cancellation fee – unless we can fill your place on that tour.
  • Cancellation by the customer less than 48 hours prior to departure – no refund.
  • A ‘no show’ is regarded as a cancellation without notice – no refund
  • If Sea Kayak Hong Kong decides not to proceed with a tour due to unsafe wind and sea conditions then we ask that you respect this decision. In this situation, we offer an alternate route. If no alternate route is available we will provide a full refund.
  • Once a sea kayak trip has begun, there will be no refunds for lost time or change of route or curtailments due to unsafe weather conditions or other safety considerations including limited capabilities of participant(s).

Multi-day trips – cancellation policy.

    • Cancellation by the customer of a multi-day tour 15 to 29 days prior to departure will incur 50% payment penalty – unless we can fill your place on that tour.
    • Cancellation by the customer of a multi-day tour 14 day or less prior to departure will incur full payment penalty – unless we can fill your place on that tour.
    • If Sea Kayak Hong Kong decides not to proceed with a tour due to unsafe wind and sea conditions then we ask that you respect this decision. In this situation we offer an alternate route or delayed start, weather permitting or another trip option. If your schedule does not allow for any of the above options, then a full refund is offered.
    • Once a sea kayak trip has begun, there will be no refunds for lost time or change of route or curtailments due to unsafe weather conditions or other safety considerations including limited capabilities of participant(s).

Kayak rental

  • We have a downloadable PDF for our terms and conditions for kayak rental. Hong Kong has amny harzardous conditions including tidal currents, typhoons, swells and marine traffic. As such we only rent kayaks in safe areas and / or to people who have experience sea kayaking. There are some areas such as Lamma Island, that are easier and more protected for the beginner paddler. These areas are much more suited that the open and exposed coastal environment around the UNESCO Global Geopark.

These “General Terms & Conditions” apply for any booking, that be a course, tour or rental.

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the activities conducted by and/or to use equipment provided the Sea Kayak Hong Kong and having voluntarily elected to participate, you (or your parent or guardian for participants who are under 18 years old) acknowledge and agree to the following:


  • Sea kayaking carries a degree of risk, even if enjoyed under proper supervision by qualified instructors. It is a strenuous activity that requires those taking part to have a reasonable standard of fitness.
  • All participants are expected to satisfy themselves prior to booking that they are fit and able to complete the itinerary of their chosen tour or training course as described in the Sea Kayak Hong Kong’s promotional materials or website.
  • For participants under 18 years old, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to make such decisions on behalf of their child or ward. The minimum age for an unaccompanied person is 14 years unless in a school or other youth group accompanied by 1 or more supervising adults.


  • It is the responsibility of the customer to advise the Sea Kayak Hong Kong of any pre-existing medical condition, illnesses, allergies and/or disability that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of you requiring medical attention or that might affect the normal conduct of a tour and the enjoyment of other trip members. This also means that you must make us aware of any medication you are taking which may adversely affect your physical abilities.
  • All Participants are required to complete the Medical Declaration and recognize that the Company will rely on information thereby provided for any treatment and/or addressing of special needs.
    The Participants must notify us of any special needs.
  • Additionally all Participants thereby agree:
    (a) to authorize any medical treatment deemed necessary in case of any illness or injury while on the tour; and
    (b) to hold the Company (and the Company’s Personnel) harmless for any and all costs and/or liabilities so incurred (It is recommended that Participants should check their medical insurance cover).
  • You should not participate if you are suffering from a heart condition or any other injury / illness which may affect your physical ability or if you are in the late stages of pregnancy and you must in no circumstances be under the influence of any alcohol or illegal drugs.


  • Each participant must complete an Indemnity form prior to the commencement of the tour/course date. This form will be made available to each participant before the time of departure or alternatively, can be emailed on request to the participant once booking process is complete.

All participants will be accommodated in a double sea kayak. Single sea kayaks are available by request for more experienced paddlers. Please ensure you have the physical and mental stamina accordingly. Our kayak trips are generally 10 to 15 kms long per day, requiring 3 to 4 hours paddling time over the whole day. We have a break at an appropriate place at least every hour to stretch our legs and enjoy the views and rest.


  • Every tour is affected by the weather, especially wind and tides. Also, Hong Kong lies in the tropical cyclone zone so several safety aspects need to be managed. We make trip-specific judgments, based on expected weather conditions and other circumstances, including group dynamic and ability, for that day (or days). If we consider the trip is not safe we will postpone, vary or cancel it.
  • If we decide not to proceed with a tour due to weather conditions or safety considerations being an issue, please respect that decision – it is for the safety of all participants. Depending on the circumstances of the day, we will consider how best to appropriately manage such a situation.
  • Once a trip has set off there will not be refunds for delays or changes of route or curtailments due to weather conditions or safety considerations (including limited capabilities of participant(s)).


  •  Safety instructions will be given before every tour; all customers must agree to follow these instructions. Sea Kayak Hong Kong or our guides cannot be held responsible for personal injury, equipment loss or damage when this is caused as a consequence of not following instructions given.
  • At all times the decision of Sea Kayak Hong Kong’s staff will be final on all matters likely to affect the safety and well-being of the trip. This includes any decision about your on-going participation in the trip or certain activities that comprise part of the trip.  If you fail to comply with a decision made by our staff or interfere with the well-being of the group, then Sea Kayak Hong Kong reserves the right to order you to leave the tour immediately, with no right of refund.
  • We reserve the right to make changes to the schedule or to cancel any tour or arrangement due to health, safety and weather conditions.
  • You as a participant are expected to follow social and environmental tour etiquette at all times and to ensure that you and the members of your party do not behave in a way which causes offense or danger to others or which risks damage to property belonging to others or the environment.


Sea Kayak Hong Kong, its guides, officers, directors, employees, servants/agents and representatives (all of them, “Sea Kayak Hong Kong’s Personnel”), take care to provide proper organization, instruction, quality equipment and risk assessments and management for tours.

  • (a) Risk reduction – Sea Kayak Hong Kong takes reasonable steps to mitigate the attendant risks by providing appropriate safety equipment and appropriate instruction and supervision, setting requirements that Participants need to follow and by providing knowledgeable and experienced guides.
  • (b) Risk cannot be eliminated – however, despite reasonable precautions, there remain certain elements of risk in water-based and other outdoor activities. Indeed one benefit is for the Participants to appreciate and understand about such risk sources and to learn to appropriately manage (and so reduce) such risks. Acceptance of such remaining risks is accepted by the Customer.
  • (c) Acceptance of the remaining risks- as part of our safety principles, you agree that you must also look after each other’s welfare and interests at all times during the tour and need to actively support and follow our instructions in which safety is a normal and natural requirement.

Please note, as travel arrangements are not included, Sea Kayak Hong Kong does not accept liability for any air, sea or land carriers, whose individual conditions of carriage apply or otherwise for such bookings. If you miss any travel connections and cannot make the meeting place in reasonable time, the tour will depart without you and no refund will be available.

Sea Kayak Hong Kong recommends that participants take out personal travel insurance to cover any costs in the event of any injury or evacuation or other travel related expenses.

These terms and conditions and disclaimer of liability are not subject to modification by any oral or written agreement or course of conduct, except if expressly varied in writing signed by the owner of Sea Kayak Hong Kong. 

Please Note:
Bad weather or sea contingency – we are dependent on the weather and sea being suitable for sea kayaking.

Please understand that the Go/No Go decision is made by the organizers alone – if you decide yourself not to go, but the trip is going ahead, no refund or credit will be given.

We follow two key concepts:
• The safety and comfort of participants is paramount
• The preservation of the environment including welfare and survival of its creatures.

Remember, we are all guests – bring a quiet voice and leave behind your radios and portable speakers – your fellow participants will appreciate it and you will be rewarded by seeing more of the natural environment and its tranquility. Tread lightly, paddle slowly and enjoy nature. Please join with us and carry out all your litter and any other trash. Don’t remove rocks, logs, driftwood, wildflowers or plants. Take only photos, leave only footprints.
